Raspberry Seed Oil
Reportedly has the highest content of alpha linolenic of any fruit seed oil. It is also full of other essential fatty acids (primarily linoleic and oleic) that combine to give a strong anti-inflammatory and moisturising effect, making it helpful for the treatment of acne, eczema and psoriasis.
Raspberry Seed Oil also contains ellegic acid, an antioxidant, which has been found to protect the skin against UV damage, reduce inflammation and slow the destruction of collagen and elastin. These properties combine to give anti-ageing benefits and reduce wrinkles, making the skin more youthful and firm.
Other antioxidants contained in high levels in Raspberry Seed Oil are tocopherols (Vitamin E) and carotenoids (Vitamin A). Antioxidants are important in skin care to fight free radicals and prevent oxidative damage which can cause premature aging and in some cases, skin cancer. Vitamin E has the added benefit of conditioning and “plumping” your skin.
Last, but certainly not least, are the phytosterols. These help reduce water loss through the skin layers, keeping the skin hydrated and moisturised for longer. They too help repair skin damage caused by environmental factors such as the sun and also are helpful for inflamed skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.
Due to its composition of natural plant acids and antioxidants, Raspberry Seed Oil possesses super anti-inflammatory qualities and offers great moisturising/hydrating and anti-aging benefits. It improves skin elasticity, suppleness and flexibility, while softening and smoothing the look of wrinkles, fine lines and sagging skin.
The Pohutakawa tree (New Zealands Christmas tree) is well known for its strength and beauty so it is no wonder that extract from the flowers of this tree is great for skin conditioning. Its exact composition has not been scientifically researched but Pohutakawa extract possesses astringent qualities that contract skin cells to tone and tighten skin complexion. It is deeply moisturising which helps soften skin and is packed with antioxidants that promote cell regeneration and reduce the effects of ageing. Pohutakawa extract also has antiseptic qualities that help clear acne and has the ability to calm and soothe red, irritated skin.
